The Museum’s collections and exhibitions focus on the visual artists of Newport and southeastern New England, reflecting both the rich heritage of the past and the lively art scene of the present. The Museum also offers concerts (indoors and outside), art classes and camps, speakers, family Museum Explorers programs, live interactive Mystery theatre and special events throughout the year. The Museum's three building campus includes the John N. A. Griswold Hosue (1864), a National Historic Landmark designed by Richard Morris Hunt in the Stick Style.
